What did you learn from your reading? Summarize the big ideas here.

A collaborative learning space provides a learning environment that is student centered for learning. It differs from the traditional set up of student's desk facing the chalkboard/whiteboard. This new way of classroom furniture layout allows easy access to all areas of the classroom and makes group work easier to conduct and assist students.

Some learning spaces style include:

TILE- Transform, Interact, Learn, Engage
FLEX- Flexible Learning Environment Exchange

These classroom setups allow the four walls of the room to be used as learning centers such as walls becoming projector screens or whiteboards, investigation tables and experiment corners. Tables and chairs have wheels and folding table tops allow for easy transition from activities.

The advantages for a collaborative learning space include:
1. Ideal for hands-on activities
2. Good opportunities for use of laptops & tablets
3. More inviting than a seminar room setup.
4.Students spend more time on tasks and move around freely to collaborate
